What does your ideal workforce look like?

Our ideal workforce consists of people who are willing to promote our philosophy of CARE: Customer Advocacy/Reliable Execution. People promoting this ideal are ambitious in going the extra mile to be their best and having high expectations for themselves. They must be confident and willing to put forth their beliefs to insist on great outcomes. They must be committed and passionate about their work and enjoy the challenges. They must be reliable and take their responsibilities seriously and act for the greater good. They must be detail oriented to pay attention to the smallest of details to ensure success.  They must be willing to give and receive feedback and be committed to fix problems as they arise and be part of the team.  We want people that want to be successful and want to be here for a career, not just a job.

What’s the biggest challenge you currently face?

The biggest challenge Espey currently faces is finding talented employees. The reservoir of available people has dried up. In many instances we find very few candidates even willing to apply for our vacancies. Due to the technical nature of our business, we have a particularly difficult time finding electronics technicians. An additional challenge is military budget cuts and sequestration, which have put our market into a heavily competitive landscape. Even in the midst of this, Espey sees growth opportunities emerging.
