Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership and Global Semiconductor Alliance Announce Strategic Partnership to Drive High-Tech Growth

Collaboration will support Partnership’s Next Wave Center and business attraction efforts, and GSA’s industry outreach, advocacy, education and membership recruitment initiatives

The Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership (Saratoga Partnership), the county’s designated economic development agency, and the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), a leading voice for the worldwide semiconductor industry, today announced the establishment of a strategic partnership to drive high-tech business attraction and growth in Saratoga County while establishing a hub for semiconductor outreach, advocacy and education in the Northeast.

The alliance enables the Saratoga Partnership to promote Saratoga County to GSA members as a destination for high-tech businesses – including its Next Wave Center (NWC), now in development, where GSA will have an office. NWC will provide short-term flex space as a landing pad for companies working with GLOBALFOUNDRIES, and serve as a launch pad for those firms to grow business relationships in the region. GSA represents more than 400 member companies in 35 countries that combine for more than 75 percent of industry revenues.

Additionally, the Saratoga Partnership and GSA will collaborate to present the first-ever Northeast Semiconductor Symposium, likely to be held next fall, which will attract executives and companies from across the Northeast to Saratoga. The two organizations also plan to work together to deliver forums and seminars that showcase the semiconductor industry’s significant impact, and address issues and topics critical to positioning the industry for further growth.

The announcement comes just before GSA Co-founder and President Jodi Shelton delivers a keynote address at the second annual Saratoga County Prosperity Summit, being held November 16 at the Saratoga Springs City Center.

“We are thrilled to work hand-in-hand with the Global Semiconductor Alliance through this partnership, which significantly raises the visibility of Saratoga County as a destination for high-tech businesses to locate and grow,” Marty Vanags, President of the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership. “With the presence of GLOBALFOUNDRIES as a world-class anchor, and amid preparations to develop our innovative Next Wave Center, Saratoga County is the perfect place, and this is the perfect time to launch this important collaboration.”

“Saratoga County has quickly become an important Northeast hub for the semiconductor industry, spurred by the rapid growth of GLOBALFOUNDRIES and supported by the forward-thinking team at the Saratoga Partnership,” said Shelton. “This partnership provides GSA with additional opportunities to support the needs of semiconductor and supply chain companies, and we look forward to delivering value on behalf of our membership.”

Leading CEOs and executives from top semiconductor companies – including Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Infineon, TSMC, Samsung and Spreadtrum – are on the board of directors and key members of GSA. The organization, which played a vital role with the emergence and worldwide adoption of the fabless business model, offers a platform for meaningful and efficient global collaboration among the entire semiconductor ecosystem.

At the Saratoga County Prosperity Summit, which features a theme of “Exploring the ‘Next Wave’ of Opportunity for Saratoga County,” Shelton will discuss the impact and importance of the region’s technology sector; emerging trends in the worldwide semiconductor market; and opportunities for businesses to capitalize on the integration of computer chip technology in nearly every industry.
