Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership Announces Location of Next Wave Center, Along With Plans to Expand the Initiative into the Next Wave Network

Building in Saratoga Technology + Energy Park will attract companies working with GLOBALFOUNDRIES; Global Semiconductor Alliance is first to secure office space

Malta, NY – The Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership (Saratoga Partnership), the county’s designated economic development agency, today announced it will launch its job-creating Next Wave Center in the Saratoga Technology + Energy Park (STEP Park) in Malta – which will include an office for the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) –and then expand the initiative into multiple sites throughout Saratoga County through creation of the Next Wave Network (NWnet). The announcement was made during the second annual Saratoga County Prosperity Summit, which attracted more than 150 attendees to the Saratoga City Center.

The NWnet will provide short-term flex space as a landing pad for companies working with GLOBALFOUNDRIES, and serve as a launch pad for firms to grow business relationships in Saratoga County and the Capital Region. The initial Next Wave Center, to be located at 107 Hermes Road in the STEP Park, will provide 10,500 square feet of space over two floors for companies seeking flexible configurations for office, warehouse, and light manufacturing activities.

The Saratoga Partnership secured the first building by working with The United Group of Companies, which has set aside space for short-term leases – generally from three months to two years – for companies that are just beginning to build business in the marketplace. Conversations are now underway to engage additional real estate developers and landlords to participate in the NWnet, which will be marketed by the Saratoga Partnership to supply chain companies working with GLOBALFOUNDRIES, among other potential tenants.

Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership and Global Semiconductor Alliance Announce Strategic Partnership to Drive High-Tech Growth

Collaboration will support Partnership’s Next Wave Center and business attraction efforts, and GSA’s industry outreach, advocacy, education and membership recruitment initiatives

The Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership (Saratoga Partnership), the county’s designated economic development agency, and the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), a leading voice for the worldwide semiconductor industry, today announced the establishment of a strategic partnership to drive high-tech business attraction and growth in Saratoga County while establishing a hub for semiconductor outreach, advocacy and education in the Northeast.
The alliance enables the Saratoga Partnership to promote Saratoga County to GSA members as a destination for high-tech businesses – including its Next Wave Center (NWC), now in development, where GSA will have an office. NWC will provide short-term flex space as a landing pad for companies working with GLOBALFOUNDRIES, and serve as a launch pad for those firms to grow business relationships in the region. GSA represents more than 400 member companies in 35 countries that combine for more than 75 percent of industry revenues.
Additionally, the Saratoga Partnership and GSA will collaborate to present the first-ever Northeast Semiconductor Symposium, likely to be held next fall, which will attract executives and companies from across the Northeast to Saratoga. The two organizations also plan to work together to deliver forums and seminars that showcase the semiconductor industry’s significant impact, and address issues and topics critical to positioning the industry for further growth.
