Ed Moore is retiring effective
December 12, 2009. Ed spoke highly of the men and women in the police
department and their dedication to the not only the Partnership, but to the
community. He also spoke about the SSPD’s dedication to community
programming and how prevention is so important to the community.
Because of Ed, the community has received valuable services, including;
School Resource Officers, a DARE Camp officer, and use of the PBA for DARE
All Stars Camp (a transitional camp for 5h to 6th
graders). His leadership has also supported collaboration between the
Partnership and the SSPD.
· As
a great supporter of the Partnership and the community, he will be sadly
missed. We wish him and the luck in his new adventures. Thanks for all your
support, Ed!
· Judy
will retire at the end of June. A search committee has been put together to
help find the next Executive Director.

Updates

Saratoga Peer Court for
9th and 10th graders has been very successful, with 20
students trained and roughly a dozen cases tried since January 2009. They
just recently tried their first double case with great success.
Robin Lyle,
Judy, and Maureen have been seeking funding sources and have applied for
funding from the United Way to help support Parent University with various
media initiatives and by hiring various speakers to record parent-focused
programs. They will find out in December if their request has been approved.

Committee
Updates

Community Awareness:
With many activities ready be put into motion, this committee is working on
a drug drop box for safe disposal of various drugs. They hope to accomplish
this in the first half of 2010. They are also working with the athletic
director at the high school to plan a spring program for athletes and have
discussed inviting local Olympians to speak with sports teams.
Youth Committee:
With the next meeting planned for January 2010, this group will be moving
forward with the national “Sticker Shock Campaign,” possibly working
alongside other groups from the high school. The group will be going into
the community and putting stickers on packaged alcohol, reminding buyers
that the purchase of alcohol for underage drinkers is illegal. They are
hoping to implement this program in late April 2010, before prom and
graduation season.
Transition Committee:
This committee meets again Thursday, December 17 in the Distant Learning
Room at the High School, where they will be finalizing their priorities for
2010.
Parent Resource
Committee: This committee has a
meeting planned for early January 2010.
