April 29, 2018 Saratoga Partnership to Host Semiconductor Industry Leaders at ASMC 2018
Saratoga Springs, NY – The Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership, the county’s designated economic development agency, will once again welcome more than 350 of the world’s top semiconductor executives and technology professionals when it hosts the Saratoga Welcome Reception on May 2 as part of ASMC 2018, the industry’s leading international technical conference.
This is the second consecutive year the Saratoga Partnership has been selected as the exclusive host of the Saratoga Welcome Reception by SEMI, the global association serving the manufacturing supply chain for the electronics industry.
“This event aligns perfectly with our strategic initiative to promote Saratoga County as a prime location for companies and professionals in the semiconductor industry,” said Marty Vanags, President of the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership. “With the presence of GLOBALFOUNDRIES and the work it’s doing at the leading edge of technology, we are well positioned to attract additional partners across the semiconductor ecosystem. Events like this spark interactions and conversations that are essential to making that happen.”
The Saratoga Welcome Reception, to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Spa State Park, will feature keynote remarks from Dr. Ron Sampson, newly named senior vice president and general manager of Fab 8 for GLOBALFOUNDRIES. In gathering the key players driving innovation in global semiconductor manufacturing, the Saratoga Partnership is building on its strategy of leveraging the investment in GLOBALFOUNDRIES to bring new advanced manufacturing businesses, suppliers and allied industries to the region.
Providing support for the event are Applied Materials as the Presenting Sponsor, Gold sponsors Center for Economic Growth and Adirondack Trust Company, Bronze Sponsors M+W Group and The Pike Company, and Supporting sponsor, National Grid.
“It is a pleasure to partner with the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership to host an event that is vital to our community,” said Charles V. Wait, Chairman of the Adirondack Trust Company. “This illustrates our commitment to building a vibrant economy in Saratoga County that provides high-quality jobs for our residents, attracts new investments to sustain growth, and further reinforces this area as a wonderful place to live, work, start a business and raise a family.”
“Hosting this important gathering of semiconductor industry leaders from around the world underscores Saratoga County’s standing as a major player in advanced electronics manufacturing,” said Edward Kinowski, Chairman of the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors. “With the growing presence of innovative companies led by GLOBALFOUNDRIES, and the strategic approach to economic development spearheaded by the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership, we are primed to attract additional jobs and investment that will ensure our economy continues to grow and prosper.”
“Bringing industry leaders and technology professionals from across the globe to Saratoga County presents an opportunity for the Capital Region to highlight all we have to offer to businesses within the advanced manufacturing space,” said Center for Economic Growth President and CEO Andrew Kennedy. “I look forward to talking with industry decision-makers about their needs and sharing opportunities for investment in the region’s research and development assets, our manufacturing heritage, high concentration of technical talent, and an attractive and affordable lifestyle.”
Being held from April 30 through May 3 at the Saratoga Hilton, ASMC 2018 is the leading international technical conference for exploring solutions to improve the collective microelectronics manufacturing expertise. The conference provides an unparalleled platform for semiconductor professionals to network and learn the latest information in the practical application of advanced manufacturing strategies and methodologies. ASMC 2018 features 15 technical sessions, a panel discussion on “Industry 4.0 and the Evolution of Smart Semiconductor Manufacturing,” and a first-ever “Women in Semiconductors” program.
“We are pleased to be working with the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership as the exclusive host of the Saratoga Welcome Reception, which is a highlight of ASMC 2018,” said David Anderson, President of SEMI Americas. “The Saratoga Partnership always organizes a first-rate gathering that reflects a vibrant community and fertile semiconductor region, and serves as an important venue to promote industry collaboration and innovation.”
